Protein Packed Oatmeal

Hey guys! A while back on our Instagram account, I mentioned making oatmeal with eggs. I have seen various fitness accounts talk about making their oatmeal and adding eggs. I was curious so I decided to try it. I LOVE it. I was completely obsessed with it for weeks. First of all, it is super easy. I usually make my oatmeal in the microwave and feel guilty about the whole process. The microwave is so convenient but I would really prefer to not use it at all. I made my protein packed oatmeal on the stove top and was pleasantly surprised with how quickly the oatmeal cooked. Less than five minutes, guys. You have five minutes to make breakfast. If you do not have five minutes, wake up earlier. Breakfast is important. Make the time to feed yourself!

If you already make your oatmeal on the stovetop then continue with your normal routine and just add eggs! Super simple! Here is how I made my batch.

Protein Packed Oatmeal

  • 1/4 cup oats (I used quick oats)
  • 1/2 cup choice of milk (cashew is my preference for the moment)
  • 1-2 eggs (I added 2 eggs but have also just used 1 egg. The more you add, the fluffier the oatmeal.)
  • oatmeal toppings (I used fresh fruit and flax seed.)

Cook your oats and milk. If using my measurements, the oats only need a couple minutes to cook. If you need a bigger bowl of oatmeal, try 1/2 cups of oats and 1 cup of milk. As the oats are just about done, crack your eggs right into the pot.

Once you crack the eggs, start stirring immediately until you can see that they have cooked completely. Again, this step goes quickly. You probably only need 1-2 minutes. The eggs make the oatmeal fluffy. It is incredibly good this way. Making my oatmeal without eggs has kind of become a disappointment for me! :)

Look at that fluffy oatmeal! I want to make some right now.

Add whatever you want to your oatmeal. I usually use whatever fruit I have in the house. If you try your oatmeal this way, please come back and tell me what you think! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Do you have a favorite oatmeal recipe? Post it in the comments. If you are a blogger, feel free to leave a link!
